INTRODUCTION Welcome to Dungeon Hero, the Hero System simulation of AD&Dv1. It is my attempt to give Fantasy Hero GMs who, for whatever reason, miss some something about the AD&D system. Perhaps its the predictability of certain aspects of character development? Maybe some sense of nostalgia over the extensive spell lists? Or the option for a high fantasy game, akin to the four color games easily done with Champions? Dungeon Hero hopefully will provide for all these things and more. Contained herein is the following: Preface: Some comments on the development of the subsystem. Levels: The basics of how levels, and abilities based on them, works under this system. The mechanics are explained, in such a way as to make them open to change should Hero have another revision. In addition, the GM may wish to make additions to the classes given here; TSR certainly has many fine NPC and additional PC classes available. Classes: The various classes, what they give you per level, and the package deals acceptable with each. Spells: How spells are built, who can use them, and some common common advantages & limitations associated with their construction. Races: Various races useable in Dungeon Hero. Many of these are adaptations of those given in the Fantasy Hero Rulebook. Damage to Armor: Optional rules for the damaging of armor. As this uses the BODY for a given location of armor, you need the supplied table listing this. Damage to Weaponry: Optional rules for dealing with damage to any weaponry. This expands somewhat on the rules given in the Hero System Rulebook. Dungeon Hero Character Sheet: A sheet with areas for relevant data of a character. Beyond this, there is also the option to adapt AD&D characters to a Hero system game, as well as any of the modules supplied by TSR. In all cases, the mechanics behind the various abilities are where feasible explained, so that the rational may be apparent to a GM, or should a GM wish to make modifications. One final word: this is not _exactly_ AD&Dv1; rather, it is more like "AD&D: the good parts". There are many things that aren't identical, more which are pretty different, and much which just isn't there. If you're looking for a clone, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a fairly good Hero System simulation of AD&D, then I think you'll be fairly happy. See the file 'whatisit' for a full description of what I have & don't from AD&D. Joe Di Lellio, DungeonHero Master, joe@planetx.org Copyright 1994 Joe Di Lellio.
