Damage to armor in Dungeon Hero All armor in Dungeon Hero has a certain amount of DEF and BODY; the base will be determined below on the chart for the substance the armor is made of, with the BODY of an item based on its mass. A location that has taken up to its negative BODY is considered to be worn, but still useable. This piece will not fetch good prices, and is prone to rust, getting caught in cloth, and is generally uncomfortable. The armor can be repaired by an appropriate crafter, or by a character with the appropriate skill(s) (and materials, if need be). Note that this armor will not be considered "good as new" unless materials are provided for its repair; attempted repairs without needed materials will make repair impossible in certain cases. If armor is reduced to negative (or more) its starting BODY, then the armor will only protect for half its original value, rounded down. It still has mass, and will weigh down the character until removed - unless the GM decides that the piece has been removed by damage. This armor might be salvageable, but it is much more expensive and difficult to do so, and possibly cheaper to simply replace the item. Also, when an attacker hits this badly damaged armor, a critical strike (or any attack the GM deems damaging enough) will make the location useless, generally by removing the armor from the area. The BODY of the given location will act as additional BODY for the target in that location until the location has reached negative it's BODY value. For example, a 2 BODY glove will give a character an extra 4 BODY in the hand. This does not count for transformation or otherwise whole body attacks, only those that use location. Note that it is possible to have armor that is mostly useful, except for certain locations, due to damage. A corselet may have its left chest- plate (location 10) rendered useless due to damage, but the rest of the armor may still be in pristine condition. Also of note is that for the purposes of this damage, each location is treated separately; the armor BODY for full pieces is used for such thing as transformations. Example: Tyleet has just fought a ogre, who had hit her in her shoulder (location 9) multiple times for a total of 8 BODY thru. She is wearing chain mail, which has 6 DEF and 5 BODY in that location. The armor is damaged, but still useable. She takes another 4 BODY after defenses to the shoulder by an orc, which ruins the location; it will still provide her with 3 DEF for that area, but at the weight of 6 DEF chain. On her way to get the shoulder of her corselet replaced, she gets into a scuffle with a bandit, who criticals her to the same shoulder. The GM decides that this removes the remaining chain from her shoulder, and an unhappy Tyleet takes out her frustration on the poor bandit. Regarding area of affect attacks: these attacks are considered to be half damage for purposes of damaging armor. Damage from these is applied to all locations, unless circumstances warrant otherwise.
