This is Max. He's a bruiser at 6.5 lbs. of pure muscle. Our friend Rahne literally found him in the gutter when he was about 2 years old. He was starving, had Pasteurella, had scars from being attacked by an animal, and was close to death. She called us for help, and we wound up adopting him because he needed intensive care by experienced bunny parents. Our only guess was that he was someone's discarded Easter bunny, born in 1997 or 1996.
Although Max is big, we think that his growth has been stunted from starvation during his formative years, because he hasn't really grown into his ears or feet. He is also still very jumpy from living outdoors and being abused by humans, has scarring in his tear ducts from the Pasteurella, and doesn't really have the hardiest of GI tracts.
Please think twice before buying a bunny for Easter! Max was one of the lucky ones.
Max brings a streetwise sensibility to any difficulties that hinder his progress. In other words, he solves everything by either ramming it with his shoulder or head. He is also the inventor of the "spinning butt binky". (He jumps straight up in the air, butt first, and does a 180 degree spin.)
