Bunny Vital Statistics : Winston, Flash, and Max were adopted
from people who couldn't keep them, and I've had them neutered and spayed.
Winston : February, 1992 - Dec. 24, 2002. Winston is a 6.5 lb cinnamon
Netherland dwarf/Jersey Wooley. How can a dwarf be so big? Genetics,
plain and simple. In any litter of dwarf bunnies, only a couple
become true dwarves. The rest are false dwarves and wind up being bigger
than either parent. There is no way to distinguish false dwarves from
true dwarves until they start growing.
Winston had developed a compressed disc in his old age, so he was
a special needs rabbit.
Flash : August 13, 1995 - April 12, 2003. Flash is a 3 lb Himalayan dwarf, and
true to the stereotype, is a nervous bundle of energy. Her previous Mom gave
Flash her name because she rockets around at high speed. She used to be
bonded to Winston, but after he had his recent complications, they broke
up. I have since re-bonded her to Max.
Max : Born ??? - Jan. 26th, 2009. Click
on the link for his biography.
Winston, sitting outside his old bachelor apartment. I bought him
a 2 story, luxurious Rabbitat shortly afterwards.
Winston never could wait for me to unpack the veggies from the store.
If motivated enough (i.e. bribed) Winston will beg, however, he shoots
out lots of mind control rays when he's being this cute. I'm glad he didn't
demand anything while he was begging. I would've given him the keys to the car.
The photos above were taken with a regular camera. The set below was taken
with a digital one, which in my opinion is much better for taking bunny
photos. There's almost no noise, so they are not tempted to run away just
as you snap the picture.
Unfortunately, the digital camera is not mine. Hopefully that will change
soon. :)
Here's Flash, doing one of her classical "I'm cute and innocent" bits.
I usually get worried when she looks like this because it usually means
that she's gotten into something. (At our last house, she figured out
how to turn off the hot water.)
Winston resting after a long, hard run. Being cute is hard work.
Winston doing his trademark curious look at my friend's digital camera.
This pose would not have been possible if the camera had been a regular
noisy one.
Flash excelling at what she does best, looking so adorable that you
forget that she shredded huge amounts of your stuff. Don't let that
enticing pose fool you, Princess Flash solely determines when she
will be petted.
Now she's plotting as to how to best shred the table cloth. Fortunately,
that cloth is pretty tacky, so I don't mind.
Here's Flash pondering whether or not the lettuce is up to her high standards.
She generally only eats the finest carrots, romaine, oat hay, and cranberries.
(and not much else if she can help it, *sigh*)
This is one of the first things I see if I happen to pass out on the couch
and I haven't yet cleaned the most important bathroom out. Winston and
Flash generally remind me by happily jumping on my face.
